SEO strategy
Search intent
The target query has mixed informational and interactive intent. A searcher may want a definition of financial literacy, a test, an explanation of why the topic matters, or resources for improving weak areas. The page therefore combines:- An indexable definition and educational guide.
- An 18-question interactive test.
- An immediate score and category breakdown.
- A complete answer review with primary sources.
- Internal links to relevant Silvia calculators.
- A product CTA after value has been delivered.
Target terms
The supplied brief included the following estimated U.S. monthly search volumes:
These are planning estimates from the brief, not measured traffic or a ranking
promise. The implementation validates the mixed search intent against current
pages and sources. Exact current volume should be rerun in SEOData.dev or Google
Ads Keyword Planner before a launch forecast is approved.
Slug and metadata
- Canonical host:
www.cfosilvia.com; route:/financial-literacy - H1:
How Strong Is Your Financial Literacy? - Indexable article copy appears before and after the interactive client component.
- Structured data includes
Article,WebApplication,BreadcrumbList, andFAQPage, with the FAQ schema generated from the same authored entries that are visibly rendered on the page. - Education Q&A quiz markup is intentionally omitted because Google’s supported quiz treatment is for flashcards, not this multiple-choice assessment.
Internal linking
The page links to the budget, compound interest, debt payoff, and net worth calculators. This feature does not modify the calculator directory, sitemap, or other pre-existing routes.Benchmark walkthroughs
NerdWallet financial literacy quiz
Walkthrough date: August 19, 2026.- Completed all 10 questions through the embedded single-question interface.
- Used the first listed answer for questions 2 through 10 and the correct answer for question 1, producing a 4 out of 10 result.
- The experience shows one question at a time with Back and Next controls.
- The result presents three score bands and a retake action.
- The result does not show a category breakdown or explain each answer.
- The surrounding page contains substantial editorial copy, author information, review signals, and related learning links.
Consolidated Credit basic financial literacy test
Walkthrough date: August 19, 2026.- Completed all 20 radio groups and submitted the form.
- Selected the first answer in every group, producing 4 out of 20, or 20%.
- All questions appear in one long form.
- Submitted answers are marked right or wrong and the correct choice is highlighted.
- Feedback relies heavily on color and does not provide an explanation per question.
- The learning CTA appears before the test and a counseling CTA appears after it.
Institutional references
- OECD PISA organizes financial literacy across money and transactions, planning and managing finances, risk and reward, and the financial landscape. Its items emphasize practical reasoning and interpreting financial information.
- CFPB distinguishes financial knowledge from the skill required to apply that knowledge. The public score is therefore described only as a knowledge score.
- The 2026 TIAA Institute and GFLEC P-Fin Index spans earning, consuming, saving, investing, borrowing, insuring, comprehending risk, and information sources. Its 2026 research found risk comprehension was the weakest area on average.
Assessment design
Format
- 18 multiple-choice questions
- Four options per question
- One best answer per question
- Approximately five minutes
- No sensitive financial data
- Seven category scores
- Full answer review
- Primary source attached to every explanation
Question key
Scoring
Every question has equal weight.score = round(correct answers / 18 * 100)
Category percentages are calculated independently as correct answers divided by
questions in that category. When every category has the same percentage, the UI
reports the tie instead of inventing a strongest or weakest topic, and attribution
uses
tie. The page states that the score is proprietary, educational, and is not
a national percentile, financial health score, credit score, or advice.
Funnel and attribution
- Searcher lands on the indexable page.
- Searcher starts without creating an account.
- Searcher receives the complete result without a gate.
- Searcher reviews explanations and learning links.
- Searcher sees the bridge: knowledge is separate from actual financial data.
- Searcher clicks
Create a free account. - The CTA opens Clerk signup with
plan=free,ref=financial-literacy-quiz, score band, strongest category, and weakest category in query parameters. A fully tied result recordstiefor both category parameters. - PostHog captures the same result attributes before navigation.
- Existing signup and account-connection events can complete the funnel after PostHog merges the anonymous visitor into the identified account.
Event catalog
Primary business metric: first financial account connected by a quiz-originated
user. Supporting metrics include organic click-through rate, start rate,
completion rate, CTA click rate, signup rate, first account connection rate, and
seven-day and thirty-day return rate.
Follow-on quiz roadmap
The original follow-on ideas are now implemented on the feature branch, along with a retirement readiness assessment. They remain unpublished pending final review and launch sequencing:- Retirement Readiness Quiz
- Tax Intelligence Test
- Investing IQ Test
- Financial Planning Assessment
- Debt Knowledge Quiz
- Portfolio Knowledge Test
docs/seo/financial-quiz-funnel.md.
Later options include a money personality quiz and a financial well-being
assessment. A risk-tolerance quiz requires additional compliance review and must
not present its result as personalized investment advice.
QA results
Completed August 21, 2026:- Passed 17 focused Vitest assertions covering question integrity, category coverage, scoring boundaries, category diagnostics, malformed data, tied categories, signup attribution, and share copy.
- Passed targeted ESLint on every financial-literacy TypeScript and TSX file.
- Passed the full TypeScript compiler with no errors.
- The production build compiled successfully and completed lint and type
validation. Page-data collection then stopped in the existing
/api/account/deleteroute because local service credentials are absent. No quiz diagnostic was emitted. - Removed the generated hero artwork and its metadata instead of shipping a visually unrelated 2 MB asset.
- Reduced the page coordinator from 520 to 142 lines and the quiz coordinator from 666 to 49 lines. State and side effects now live in focused hooks; intro, question, score, category, signup, and answer-review views are separate.
- Reduced page typography from five font families to Instrument Serif and DM Sans.
- Confirmed all feature UI colors use existing semantic theme tokens. No new theme variables or hardcoded color literals were added.
- Confirmed native button, link, radio, fieldset, table, progress, live-region, focus, and accordion semantics in the final source.
- Confirmed the signup URL carries score, band, category, and source attribution and routes only to the existing Clerk signup flow. No message is sent.
- Confirmed analytics event wiring remains in place for landing, start, question five, completion, result, signup, retake, and share. External event receipt was not tested because the local environment has no PostHog key.
- No companion Silvia skills update is needed for this reduction pass because the route, button names, and user workflow are unchanged.
